First look at Vera’s Brenda Blethyn filming season 12 as starstruck policeman bags rare pic on set

VERA star Brenda Blethyn was spotted by police filming scenes for the twelfth season.

The iconic fictional detective from the ITV drama was stopped to pose for a photo on set while wearing her signature attire.

Northumbria Police’s official Twitter page shared the rare behind-the-scenes image with the caption: “PC Steve West was out on patrol when he spotted a familiar face in #Blyth.

“None other than Brenda Blethyn, the actress who plays famous TV detective Vera, stopped for a photo & a chat.

“If you want to make your fave TV show a reality then visit our careers page today.”

The actress, 75, showcased a brown trench coat, green scarf and boots.

Director Khurrum M. Sultan recently shared a tribute to Brenda when one episode wrapped up.

He tweeted: “And that’s a wrap. What an incredible journey. Thank you to my entire cast and crew.

“And of course thank you to the legendary @BrendaBlethyn and @kennydoughty. I can’t wait to share the episode.”

Brenda replied: “A pleasure to work with you Khurrum.”
