"I'm not ruling anything out. I'm doing a civil construction course which is about driving excavators and building roads," Ryan told

"I like playing with those kinds of machines. I like doing earthworks, all that kind of manual labour stuff. That's where I'm at, but who knows where it's all going to end up."

Back in 2017, Ryan also revealed he trained as a pilot when he thought the Australian show was up for the chop.

Weighing up his options, Ryan said he "might go back to flying when the time's right".

Speaking on ITV's Lorraine back in 2017, Ryan revealed more about why he had a backup career: "Ironically it was the change of stations in Australia - when we changed from Channel 10 to Channel 11.

"Normally the change of stations signifies that the show is going to go! So I rang up my wife and said: 'I need to find a new job'.

"But it's been doing really well."

Ryan recently revealed he was planning to leave Neighbours before the show was axed.

"I was thinking now is the time," he told the .

"But I have always said I want to ride the wave all the way to shore, so I am actually really grateful I got to do that and experience the end. What a wonderful thing to be able to do,"; he added.

After nearly 40 years on the box, the show will be leaving TV for good.

Neighbours has dominated our screens for almost four decades after kicking off back in 1985.

The much-loved soap has been pivotal in the careers of many A-list stars including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Liam Hemsworth and Margot Robbie.

The show currently airs on Network Ten in Australia, and Channel 5 here in the UK.

It was announced back in February 2022 that the long-running soap had been cancelled.

The hit show has been cancelled because Channel 5 pulled out of broadcasting the soap.

In a statement on Twitter, the show's producers said financial issues stemming from "the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK" Channel 5) in early 2022 contributed to the show's end.

Channel 5 announced in February 2022 it would be dropping Neighbours from its line-up, with the show's producers Fremantle Media unable to secure a replacement broadcaster.
