Coronation Street’s Bill Fellows teases ‘life-changing’ twist from Stu Carpenter’s past

THINGS are about to come to a head for Stu Carpenter with his past set to be exposed.

Coronation Street star Bill Fellows teased that revelations about his character could shock many viewers - as they did him.

Many secrets are kept in the cobbles and Stu Carpenter isn't one to go against tradition.

Since his first appearance in Weatherfield in October, 2021, the former homeless man has kept his past closed off, even to the many friends he has made throughout the months.

Off-screen, however, actor Bill Fellows knew his alter ego's past would, one day, be explored further.

";There was always a possibility", he told The Sun and other press.

Corrie boss Ian MacLeod eventually made it known that Stu's past involved an "unexpected" and "life-changing" twist.

"The producer told me what my past was and I said 'woah' and we talked about things", Bill added.

"He's flawed and something is in his past that people may disapprove of."

"It was unexpected, it's at a life-changing level. His past was much bigger than I'd imagined."

But what could Stu be hiding?

Yasmeen Nazir tried to get Stu back in touch with his estranged daughter Bridget but he's been reluctant to rekindle his broken relationship with her.

Stu has been estranged from his family for years and, as a former Navy officer, has spent most of his time at a distance from his only child.

Spoilers have confirmed he would be finally seeing her, and his surprise granddaughter, as he pays her new home a visit.

In recent episodes aired on ITV, Stu's family situation had taken a toll on his mental health, which led him to drink while working at Speed Daal.

He then told Zeedan Nazir he was shaken to have found out Bridget had moved away from the home he'd taken the habit of sending gifts to.

Stu has remained secretive about his past for several months and viewers have been curious to find out more about him.
