CULT mayhem and music industry exploits are front and center of HBO's drama The Idol.

The cast of the series is led by a Grammy Award-winning star, a member of the girl group BLACKPINK, and a late Donnie Brasco actress.

Who is in the cast of HBO's The Idol?

On June 29, 2021, HBO announced that the team behind Euphoria had another series in the works called The Idol.

The new drama series premiered on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 9pm ET.

Amongst those behind the camera are Reza Fahim, Joe Epstein, and Succession producer Mary Laws.

Euphoria producers Sam Levinson and Ashley Levinson also signed on as executives.

Similar to Drake with Euphoria, The Weeknd has taken on responsibilities as co-creator, writer, and producer.

Not only is the Take My Breath singer one of the figures behind the scenes, but he is also leading the cast.

He appears as the character Tedros, a nightclub owner and self-help guru.

Starring opposite The Weeknd is Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis.

Lily's character is a pop music performer who becomes involved with the man played by The Weeknd.

Singer Troye Sivan is also in the cast.

Regarding the filming process, Sivan told : "I’m just having the best time.

"I’m having such a good time and the quality of every single aspect of a production like this is so inspiring to watch. It’s just a crazy experience, it’s been so fun."

Additionally, Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy and BLACKPINK's Jennie Kim are among the roster of actors who appear in The Idol.

The Idol marks Anne Heche's last acting role, as she filmed the series sometime before her death.

On August 11, 2022, Anne died from injuries she sustained from a car accident.

Anne had years of history with The Idol's co-creator, Sam Levinson.

Sam's father, Barry Levinson, directed her in the 1997 political comedy, Wag the Dog.
