Love Island AXES major fan favourite twist after public backlash

LOVE Island has axed one of its most controversial twists this year - with the Casa Amor postcard getting returned to sender.

In previous years, a cheery-looking card detailing some of the most shocking moments from the other house would land on the doormat.

It proved controversial, though was popular with some viewers because of the drama it unleashed.

Islanders were regularly left in tears because it revealed their partners had been unfaithful.

However, this year, TV bosses have decided not to do it, believing a postcard "wasn't the right move".

A source close to Love Island explained: "Sometimes what you imagine is worse than what you could see on a postcard.

"Producers only use ideas like this as and when, and the feeling was it just wasn’t the right move this time round."

Some thought Luca Bish might be confronted by pictures of Gemma Owen in bed with another lad.

Or shots of Jacques O'Neill, Dami Hope or Andrew Le Page snogging the new arrivals could be mailed in the other direction.

Last year, the postcard was branded "cruel" by some fans because a misleading photo suggested to Faye Winter that Teddy Soares had been unfaithful in Casa Amor.

The move prompted a staggering 4,330 official complaints to Ofcom and complaints on social media.

In fact Teddy was kissing her in a dare game - and he actually returned from Casa Amor single.

However, when he returned - with Faye's soft toy in his hand - she'd coupled up with new boy Sam believing he'd strayed.

It's a similar decision to the one the current crop of Islanders face tonight as they're invited to make their decisions in a recoupling.

Both the boys and girls will be asked to choose whether they will stay in their existing pre-Casa Amor couples or jump to someone they've met since.
