TOWIE bosses have held top secret talks with original castmember Lauren Goodger to make a dramatic return to the series.

“Producers have reached out to Lauren as they would love to have her back," a source has revealed.

“She is one of the most popular originals and now she is about to become a mum for the second time, they feel this is the perfect time to reintroduce her to viewers.

“There is always drama in Lauren’s life, from her body battles and relationship struggles, so that makes her really relatable to viewers. The feeling is this return is well overdue.”

Lauren originally starred in The Only Way Is Essex from its launch in 2010 until the sixth series in 2012.

She then returned for a guest spot in the 2015 Christmas special, which led to a comeback in series 19 in 2016, only to leave again.

Lauren, who has also starred in Dancing On Ice, Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity Big Brother, is expecting her second child with on-off boyfriend Charles Drury any day now.

“After six years away from Towie, so much has happened in Lauren’s life, so bosses are keen to show viewers where she is now and how she has changed since the last time we saw her," the source said.

The insider added that Lauren is also open to the possibility of returning, but can’t commit to anything until she has given birth.

“Lauren is feeling really uncomfortable in the final stages of her pregnancy and she also has her hands full with her one-year-old LaRose," they continued.

"While she is definitely keen to keep the conversation going, she won’t be able to make any final decisions until she’s had the baby and is settled back home."

Despite making it unlikely Lauren will be ready to return for the upcoming series, which is currently filming, bosses are hopeful it’s just a matter of when, not if, she will be back.

“All the signs look promising,” our source concluded. “Watch this space.”

The Sun has reached out to Towie reps. A spokesperson for Lauren declined to comment.
