The Control Room is a thriller set in Glasgow starring Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actor Iain De Caestecker.

Iain's character, Gabe, works as an emergency call handler for the Strathclyde Ambulance Service, but a desperate phone call from a woman who seems to know him changes everything.

BBC said: "With Gabe under pressure to work out who she is, he makes a decision that threatens to have devastating consequences".

Discussing his role in the drama, De Caestecker said: "The Control Room is one of the most exciting scripts I’ve ever read.

"I was on the edge of my seat the whole time so I’m thrilled to now be bringing it to life.

I’ve always loved working with the BBC and am especially delighted to be filming alongside this fantastic cast and crew in my hometown of Glasgow.”

It's directed by Amy Neil (Hanna, Trust Me), and written by award-winning writer Nick Leather.

It also stars Scottish actress Joanna Vanderham, playing Sam.

She appeared in 2013 period drama Dancing on the Edge.

Joanna said: “I am so excited for the opportunity to bring Nick Leather’s incredibly complex characters to life.

"Filming in my home country of Scotland is always special and my research for the character means I’ve been reminiscing about my own adolescence.

Sharon Rooney

Sharon Rooney is a Scottish actress best known for playing Rae in My Mad Fat Diary.

She has also appeared in Sherlock, The Teacher and McDonald & Dodds amongst other series.

On the big screen, she has appeared in Dumbo and The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.

Rooney's character DI Breck is a police officer who becomes entwined in Gabe's life after he receives the mysterious phone call.

Stuart Bowman

Stuart Bowman is best known for playing head of MI5, Stephen Hunter-Dunn, in the BBC's Bodyguard.

He has also appeared in Grantchester, Alex Rider, Deadwater Fell and The Serpent.

Bowman made regular appearances as Sergeant Thomson in Gary: Tank Commander, and Alexandre Bontemps in the Canel+ series Versailles.

Bowman plays Ian in The Control Room, Gabe's father.

Taj Atwal

Taj Atwal is a 34-year-old British actress.

She has appeared in Stella, In the Club, Line of Duty, The Syndicate and Hullraisers.

Taj's character Leigh in The Control Room works as Gabe's supervisor in the control centre.

Daniel Portman is best known for playing the role of Podrick Payne in the television series Game of Thrones.

He made his on-screen debut in 2010's Outcast, in which he starred as Paul. 

In 2021, he starred in the police mini series Vigil as Chief Petty Officer Gary Walsh.

Portman stars as Anthony who works with Gabe at the control centre in the BBC series.

Conor McLeod

The Control Room is Conor McLeod's first on-screen role where he plays the role of Ross.

However, he has appeared in the BBC Scotland series River City.

He graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2021.

When is The Control Room on BBC One?

The Control Room kicks off on BBC One on Sunday, July 17, at 9 pm.

The three-part series will continue nightly on consecutive nights at 9pm.

Each episode will be an hour long.
