Coronation Street fans baffled by Stephen’s accent as he returns after 15 years
CORONATION Street fans were left baffled last night when a familiar face returned to the cobbles after 15 years away.
As revealed last week, Audrey Robert's son Stephen Reid is back on the soap for the first time since 2007.
Stephen's return to the cobbles comes just as things get seriously out of hand for Corrie stalwart Audrey Roberts, played by soap legend Sue Nicholls.
The latest episode of the ITV soap saw actor Todd Boyce reprise his role in dramatic fashion as he found Audrey unconscious in the salon.
His mum had fallen over the previous evening and had been laying trapped underneath a motorbike all night, as her family discussed how to tackle her drinking problem.
Stephen was the one to find his mother after arriving at the salon to see Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) trying to get in.

He ended up breaking the door in and was stunned to find his mother collapsed on the floor.
However, it wasn't this dramatic scene that got viewers talking about Stephen's return - but instead it was his accent, with some likening him to an "80s action film star".
One viewer tweeted: "WTF is that accent #Corrie."
While this one said said: "Stephen thinks he's in an 80s action film #Corrie."
Another chimed in: "Ok his voice is going to irritate the [angry face emoji] out of me, please don't give him many lines lol."
This fan commented: "Stephen not wasting any time in showing off his vocal range."
Viewers may have been confused by his accent as Stephen has been living in Canada most of his life after Audrey gave him up for adoption as a baby.
Actor Todd has reprised the role several times over the years.
