CHANNEL 5's The Hotel Inspector sees its famous critic head down to various establishments across Britain, to get them back on their feet.

Experienced inspector Alex Polizzi recently visited a hotel in Loughborough, and was left feeling "disgusted" at what she witnessed.

The straight-talking expert told the owners of the LG Thai Derm Spa and Guest House exactly what they needed to hear.

After heading down to the Leicester Road-based accommodation, Alex was left shocked.

First-time hotel owners, husband and wife duo Hasmeeta, 59, and Bharat, 64, had taken over the Thai-themed guest house just before the pandemic struck.

They fell in love with the business, which boasted 10 guest rooms, a spa with treatment rooms, and a Thai restaurant which seated 24 people.

Bharat told the Channel 5 show that: "The fact that the concept was unique appealed to us.

"If anybody wanted to experience Thailand, but couldn't go there, this would probably be the nearest thing to it".

Things didn't start off well for the couple, with inspector Alex arriving and instantly noticing how dirty it was.

She was taken to the £89-a-night prestige room, and said: "this room does not smell clean or fresh, you walk in here and it smells of old socks and stale sperm."

The struggling guest house had taken a turn for the worse following the pandemic, with a lack of cleanliness and chaotic management ruining its reputation.

The business was struggling to cope due to its 30 per cent occupancy.

Brutally honest Alex told them it was because: "You have tried nothing, absolutely nothing.

“What are you doing? You are not managing this place, you are being dragged along in its wake. It’s amateur hour."

Upon further inspection it was clear that the lack of cleanliness was a site-wide thing, and wasn't exclusive to Alex's room.

The expert took to revamping the entire business, overhauling the entire restaurant with a modern makeover and a new menu.

She also ensured the guesthouse had a full deep clean.

A new name, logo, and sign was given to the business, now going by Loughborough Grange.

Bharat and Hasmeeta were over the moon with the changes, as he said: "We have direction, we can make this work, we’re going to make this work moving forward.”
