GEMMA Owen’s claims of being a leading international dressage champion are a bit lame — as she has only won three competitions in the past seven years.
The 19-year-old daughter of England football hero Michael, 42, most recently won on the international stage in 2020 and in her last outing in July 2021 came a disappointing 46th.
According to data from governing body the International Federation for Equestrian Sports, Gemma’s only two victories before that were both in March 2017.
She has only won once on her horse Sirius Black III, with her other two on previous nag, Der Kleine Lord.
The FEI say she didn’t even register for 2022 competitions, as the start of the ITV2 show approached.
A source said yesterday: “Whenever she has explained what she does for a living on the show, she’s said she travels around the world competing in international dressage competitions.

“That much is true, but sadly she doesn’t win very many.
“She’s taken part in 39 competitions and won three times.
"Her dad certainly had a better strike rate.”
However, Gemma has fared better in regional competitions.

According to British Dressage, which governs the sport in the UK, she has triumphed on 42 occasions out of a possible 132.
But none of the wins were in “high-profile” events.
Gemma, who has faced a viewer backlash on the show because of her cold nature, is currently paired up with Italian stallion Davide Sanclimenti, 27.
