The 56-year-old had told how he was forced to quit art school and go into the family baking business.

"I did study sculpting in art school before I went into dough," said Paul.

"My dad pulled me out of art school because it was the 80s and we just needed to get into trade to get some money because of the unemployment.

"My dad said I'll give you a fiver to get my hair cut and join the business.

"So I literally I prostituted myself in my teens to the industry."

The comment left the studio lost for words before AJ stepped in and sarcastically said: "Poor you.

"I feel really sorry for you with how everything's turned out."

She then burst out laughing as she hinted she was only messing with the successful baker.

Paul didn't have a comeback for the Strictly singer but merely threw his head back chuckling.

The dad of two recently admitted he cried when he suffered trolling after ditching the BBC for Channel 4.

Judge Paul was "called every name under the sun" when the show moved channels.

Back in 2017, Love Productions, the makers of GBBO, sold the show to Channel 4 - but it came at price for Paul.

"Oh, I was called every name under the sun," he told , adding: "It was so horrendous, I actually cried."

Mary Berry, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins all decided to not be involved in the show going forward.

They were then replaced by Prue Leith, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, but Paul made the switch over to the new version.
