Jeopardy! fans ‘furious’ after they discover clue that game show could be canceled for DAYS

JEOPARDY! fans are furious after discovering a clue that the game show could be canceled for days.

On a popular Jeopardy! Reddit board, one fan posted a program alert that may affect west coast viewers of the game show.

They wrote: "Tonight, the NBA Finals will begin airing on ABC stations, meaning that if your ABC affiliate airs Jeopardy! in the prime access hour (7-8 PM), the show may be preempted."

A show being preempted means that it will be aired at a later date due to a more urgent broadcast.

Sometimes a rerun may be shown in its place but for Jeopardy! the 2022 NBA Finals, which features the Boston Celtics vs. the Golden State Warriors, will be taking over its usual time slot on the west coast.

The Redditor continued: "You may want to check with your local affiliate to find the correct airtime of the preempted episode(s)."

The fan also went on to describe a possible future scheduling conflict.

"In addition, Disney purchased a portion of the television broadcast rights to NHL games starting this season, and with that deal came the exclusive rights to the Stanley Cup Finals this year."

He continues: "The schedule has not been released yet, but those games are expected to air once the conference finals are completed [in] the middle of the month."

Jeopardy! fans rushed to the comment thread to voice their disappointment.

One fan posted a link to a video of the late Alex Trebek saying, "We don't like preemptions."

Another, however, cleared up any confusion, writing: "The weeknight games in the NBA Finals are 9 PM Eastern starts, so with the hour pregame, stations that air J! in the 7-8 PM hour in the Eastern time zone will not be affected, but the rest of the country will be affected if they air it at 7-8 in their time zone."

Other fans commented with the new time shot for their preempted episodes.

One wrote: "1:30 Friday AM KOTA Rapid City, SD GRR."

Another responded, commenting: "3:30 AM over here" with a sad face emoji placed at the end.

BURTON UNLOAD BURDEN

Preempted episodes and swapped time slots aren't the only dramas affecting Jeopardy! currently.

Levar Burton slammed the show and its disgraced producer Mike Richards for the “distasteful” way they snubbed him from the hosting job.

Fans have maintained that the 65-year-old Reading Rainbow star would’ve been perfect for the gig, had he gotten a fair shot to prove it.
