Coronation Street’s Gail Platt star Helen Worth has adorable reaction as she’s awarded MBE
CORONATION Street star Helen Worth has shared her adorable reaction to being awarded an MBE in the Queen's Jubilee Honours.
The actress - who is best known for playing Gail Platt in the ITV soap - admitted she was "surprised" to have been recognised by her Majesty.
Helen, 71, was awarded the MBE in the latest Honours List thanks to her services to drama - having played her character for 48 years.
She joined the soap as much-loved character Gail back in 1974, and has had a number of memorable storylines ever since.
Long-term fans will no doubt remember her for her tram crash, as well as when she nearly died in the canal alongside Richard Hillman.
Gail has also had to deal with the death of four of her five husbands in a number of dramatic scenes on the long-running show.

More recently, scenes have seen Gail take time away from the cobbles, travelling to Thailand to escape her daily stresses.
Reacting to the news of her MBE, Helen admitted that she was left "surprised" and "honoured" to be included in the list.
She told : "It was a huge surprise to learn that I had been nominated for an MBE.
"To be honoured for doing something I have enjoyed so much for so many years is truly wonderful, and I am particularly delighted to receive this award in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Year."

Helen's fellow Corrie star Anthony Cotton was also awarded an MBE as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee list.
The overjoyed pair are among dozens of entertainers — including MasterChef hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace — honoured to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.
Antony, 46, who made his debut on the cobbles as Sean Tully back in 2003, said he was “overwhelmed” with the same gong as Helen — for his acting and charity work with troops.
In July last year he met the Queen when she visited the Weatherfield set to celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary. Antony dedicated his award to our war heroes, saying: “I am completely overwhelmed by this honour, especially as it has come during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Meanwhile, MasterChef judges Gregg and John told of their shock and pride at being awarded MBEs. South London-born Gregg, 57, said it felt like he was living in a “fairytale”.
