Love Island bosses on high alert as airline travel chaos means host Laura Whitmore may struggle to get to Majorca
LOVE Island bosses are on high alert to “adapt” the show if Britain’s travel chaos scuppers their planned flights to and from Majorca.
Host Laura Whitmore flies multiple times throughout the series to present from the main villa on the Balearic isle as well as from a studio in London for spin-off show Aftersun.
And fresh Islanders arrive throughout the ITV2 show’s run, which can be as long as eight weeks.
But ITV confirmed they were ready to handle the mayhem, which has been caused by Easyjet and TUI axing flights over staff shortages.
A show source said: “It’s less than ideal but the team is ready to adapt if they need to.”
Earlier this week, executive producer Mike Spencer dubbed the programme “such a reactive show” that can adapt quickly.

Last year, Laura branded travelling to and from the Balearic isle a “logistical nightmare” due to Covid restrictions.
She said at the time: “I have to be in London every Sunday as part of my Love Island contract. I need to host Love Island: Aftersun, which I love. It's just so much fun, I love live telly.
“But that's another logistical nightmare, that we need to make sure that I'm always back in time for that. If I could, I'd probably just move into the villa, I mean who wouldn't?”
Laura was looking forward to an easier time this year.

But scenes of chaos at London Gatwick, Birmingham International and Manchester Airport suggest issues may arise once more.
Husband Iain Stirling, who also narrates Love Island, will stay in Majorca for the summer with crew so he is on hand to record the show’s links every day.
