COMEDIAN Axel Blake was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2022 after a dramatic live series finale on Sunday night.

The comic beat ten other acts to the top spot after a night that judge Simon Cowell branded the “best” final he has ever judged.

Axel beat young ventriloquist Jamie - who was in tears as hosts Ant and Dec gushed over how well he had done in the competition.

Singing schoolteacher Tom Ball finished third - despite being pipped as the favourite by many fans on social media.

But fans were quick to share their disappointment with the winner.

One social media user said: "#BGT what an utter fix....pathetic...every other act was better than him...what a coincidence it was Simons golden buzzer act they can say anyone has won...you never see the votes!!"

Meanwhile, another said: "The most unfunny comedian even wins #BGT. No surprise then that he was Simon Cowell's golden buzzer act. #fix #BritainsGotTalent"

  • The BGT curse: The tragic events that befall the show's winners

Winning BGT must feel like being on top of the world, but things don't always turn out well for those who win the show.

George Sampson, who won the show at age 14, ended up having a massive feud with his mother, that resulted in him evicting her from his house.

Meanwhile, BGT warm-up act Ian Royce entered rehab in 2019 as he battled alcohol and sex addictions.

Tragically, less than a year later, Ian died aged 51 from severe pneumonia and multiple organ failure.

Magician David Watson, who auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent 12 times, sadly died at his Cheshire home in December 2021, aged just 62.

The list does not end there, as several acts from the shows history continue to face difficulties.

  • Will BGT return for another series next year?

BRITAIN’S Got Talent made a big announcement about the show as it prepares to stage the grand finale tonight.

Hosts Ant and Dec explained that it will be returning for another explosive series next year – and you have the chance to join in.

  • BGT star reveals new career for paralysed Jonathan Goodwin

BRITAIN’S Got Talent favourite Marc Spelmann has revealed his friend Jonathan Goodwin still has a bright future in magic after his near-death accident.

Escapologist Jonathan, 42, was paralysed when a death-defying escape went horribly wrong last year.

According to Marc, who starred alongside Jonathan on BGT in 2019, he still has plenty to offer the world of magic and could also have a bright future in the world of motivational speaking,

Speaking to The Sun, Marc said: “I think his mindset, being someone who was so physical before his accident, so athletic and using his physicality as his main source of income, to now being in the position he’s in and still having this mindset he’s got, is really incredible.

“He’s very eloquent. He’s a really intellectual guy. I said to him you should be a public speaker, talk about your escapology endeavours, close calls type of thing. It would be fascinating to listen to that.

“He’s still able bodied on the upper half, he can still use his hands to do magic, so maybe that’s something he goes back to. Maybe magic with a message, that kind of thing. I think Jonathan’s mindset’s incredible.”

“When I was 18, I thought I’d grow out of it and be able to do what I wanted, and I never got that chance, so me and my mum fell out a bit.”

He added: "Whilst some people will know of me, there are a lot of people out there who don’t and it's about trying to make sure I am chasing all those opportunities out there, to help me stand out amongst all the amazing comedians and entertainers in what is a very competitive industry."
