Stacey Solomon is now at the helm of the C4 show - having taking over from Tom Allen - along with regular presenter Liam Charles.

But within minutes of the first challenge being set, viewers were already on the edge of their seats.

The first six Bake Off: The Professionals pairs were asked to whip up 36 mini Strawberry Fraisiers, which is a classic French cake.

They were then challenged with making towering 'show pieces' that all threatened to topple over.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "The universe’s most stressful bloody TV programme ever is BACK, also known as Bake Off: The Professionals.

"I love this show but I feel so incredibly tense watching it. Melting chocolate! Collapsing showpieces! Sugar work that won’t stick! Tantrums & tears! It’s got the lot!"

Another added: "I find professional bake off so tense to watch!"

But a third wrote: "Glad Bake of the professionals is back. Bring on the stress and beautiful displays!"
