The Chase fans all say the same thing as ITV game show returns to screens after schedule shake-up

THE Chase fans were all saying the same thing as the ITV series returned this week.

Fans fumed as host Bradley Walsh's hit tea-time show was scrapped last week in favour of a rival programme.

In its place, episodes of the Adil Ray-fronted Lingo were broadcast from 5pm until the ITV News at 6pm every day of the week.

Then, as Beat The Chasers was airing in primetime on the channel later on, the regular version of the show had to take a hike.

Yet with the regular The Chase back in its regular telly schedule spot, fans have voiced their overwhelming happiness.

One took to Twitter to celebrate: "The Chase Yah, its back!"

A second put: "Goooood evening, gang!! So glad this is back #TheChase," as a third put: "Finally it's back! #TheChase."

Another added: "Good to have #TheChase back….."

One then made reference the show that filled its spot, as they quipped: "#TheChase is back today. Won’t see you in a mo Lingo."

Meanwhile, Beat The Chasers had a new line-up this series, with Issa Schultz joining Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis.

Anne Hegerty, better known on the show as The Governess, was forced to pull out of filming the ITV show after catching Covid during filming back in March.

Issa, 38, dropped everything and flew from Brisbane to the UK within hours of getting the call to step in for the quizzing star known as The Governess.

He told The Sun: "I got a last-minute call to step into The Governess’s cold and chilly shoes.

"What a delight. It was close to 1am Brisbane time - I’m a night owl and my Australian boss said to the UK bosses: ‘Just call him, he’ll be up.’

"Then I was on the plane, I think it was close to 9am that very morning. As they say, the show must go on! I’d be foolish not to do it."

Despite stepping into those 'chilly shoes', Anne encouraged Issa and sent him kind words before he hit the big stage.

Issa explained: "My fellow chasers were lovely and so welcoming. Anne was so supportive - she said: ‘Go for it Issa, I know you can do this'."
