EMMERDALE fans are devastated after discovering how long Faith Dingle has to live.

The matriarch - who is played by actress Sally Dexter in the ITV soap - was told her cancer is incurable tonight, but that doctors would do all they can to give her as much time as possible.

However, that was still only months - and not years as she hoped.

“We are talking months and not years, aren’t we?” Faith asked the doctor who told her it depends on how her body reacts to treatment.

“The longer leaver the worse that might be so let’s get booked in. My pace says let’s just cram it all in while I still can.”

The doctor booked Faith in immediately to begin treatment.

But fans were utterly heartbroken to realise Faith only has months to live.

One wrote: "poor Faith."

A second said: "it looks like #Faith has the World on her shoulder."

Another added: "Aww Faith and Moria."

Meanwhile Faith still couldn’t open up about her health issues to her kids.

Instead she offered to babysit for Chas and Paddy so they could have a night out - and she could spend some time with the granddaughter she will never see grow up.

Actress Sally Dexter explained: "Faith is absolutely shellshocked. 

“She was numb when she heard the news and she couldn't take it in. 

“In a sense, Moira being there relieved Faith of having to react, as it was Moira who responded emotionally.”
