Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor says ‘controversial’ impotency storyline is most ‘taboo’ script she’s ever done
CORONATION Street legend Sally Dynevor has opened up about her "controversial" impotency storyline, revealing it's the most taboo plot she's ever done on the ITV soap.
Sally, 59 - who joined the soap as Sally Metcalfe back in 1986 - also explained she still feels "sexy" as she approaches 60.
The actress's character and her on-screen husband Tim, played by Joe Duttine, 51, have been struggling with their sex life.
Recent scenes on the much-loved ITV show have seen Tim struggle to get back on track after his recent heart surgery.
Speaking about the storyline, Sally exclusively told The Sun: "I think we don't talk about sex enough in the UK.
"I was surprised by the script, I thought, 'Are we allowed to say this at 7pm?' But I'm very happy doing it, it's not something we have done before. It's quite controversial.

"I'm excited about my storyline - it's wonderful when you've got comedy and tragedy together. It's an important issue as quite a lot of men get impotency at this age."
"It's lovely doing the humour with it as well. Sally and Tim are known for running off to the bedroom and now that they can't do that, it's really good fun.
"We see them attempt to talk to a sex therapist but it goes wrong," she teased of what may happen in upcoming scenes.
Sally, whose daughter Phoebe, 27, stars in risque Netflix period drama Bridgerton, admits she still feels sexy as she approaches 60.

Sally said: "Working with young people all the time keeps me young and feeling vibrant about life, they make me feel really excited. I still feel sexy too.
"I never worried about turning 50, but I am worried about 60, I don't know why. It's just a number, but I think it might be what public perception of what a 60-year-old might be.
"That's why I did Dancing On Ice and I want to do more now."
Sally has no plans to retire and wants to carry on working on the show, following in co-star Ken Barlow actor Bill Roach's footsteps, after he just turned 90.
She said: "I've been on Corrie for 36 years so hopefully I'll be a lifer like Bill Roache, he is such an inspiration, I love the fact that he hasn't retired and he doesn't feel the need to retire.
"I do think that times are changing - if you've got a job that you love then you need to work as long as you possibly can.
"I'm terrified that if I retire, I'll just slow down and I don't want that. I want to carry on.

"Also the roles are changing for women in their sixties, our children have just left home and now it's our time.
"I've got a few friends who say, 'Are you going to retire?' and I tell them, 'No, way.' I'm having a great time, doing these sexy storylines."
