Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine reveals the ‘only thing’ keeping Fiz and Tyrone apart – and it’s not Phill
AFTER a lot of hardship, Fiz Stape is living the dream away from the cobbles and alongside her new beau Phill Whittaker.
Meanwhile, Corrie fans are convinced Tyrone Dobbs is the one for her, Jennie McAlpine explained why they can't rekindle their spark.
For years on end, Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs (played by Alan Halsall) were one of Weatherfield's most iconic couples.
But just as they had found their happily-ever-after, the seemingly unbreakable pair met a hurdle they couldn't jump through together.
The lovebirds parted ways in early 2021 after the mechanic had an affair with Alina Pop, portrayed by Ruxandra Porojnicu, breaking Fiz's hearts and making fans lose all hope in love.
Despite their messy breakup, both stalwarts made it a priority to stay on good terms for the sake of their daughters, Hope and Ruby.

Since then, Fiz has found love again in the form of newcomer Phill Whittaker (played by Jamie Kenna) and left the Street to start afresh.
However, once again, Coronation Street wouldn't be the same if bosses didn't hint at a potential reunion between Tyrone and Fiz.
Is there hope for the former couple?
Speaking to The Sun and other press, Fiz actress Jennie McAlpine is adamant that there is love between the two but a major obstacle will always prevent them from rekindling their spark and finally making it all work.

Surprisingly, their main obstacle is not Phill as Jennie believes Tyrone's past with Alina is the one betrayal Fiz wouldn't be able to forgive.
"She would go back in a heartbeat to the Tyrone that was pre-Alina, that didn’t break her heart", the actress said.
"It’s the one thing she just can’t get over. She could go back if he hadn’t done it."
Does this mean Fiz will remain with hopeless romantic Phill and are her feelings for him genuine?
"It's complicated", Jennie admits, the main reason being that, with no apparent baggage, Phill seems to be the only one able to bring Fiz and her family the stability they need to thrive.
According to Jennie, "Fiz puts her family first."
"There aren't many stable men in Weatherfield", she added.
Unfortunately, Fiz and Phill's picture-perfect extended family is set to slowly crack when it becomes clear the latter has some secrets of his own, just as viewers feared.
In scenes due to air on ITV, Phill is revealed to be working on a book about John Stape, his other half's late serial killer husband.
But just as he reopens old wounds for Fiz, Phill faces the wrath of her daughter, Hope, who discovers the truth about him and her own father.
"Phill has all this information about John Stape. Hope is finding out stuff about her dad she didn’t want to find out", Jennie teased.
This leads to volatile Hope to seek revenge with a giant digger.
"You don’t mess with my daughter", the soap legend added with a hint of mischief, "actually, it’s quite tame for her."
Desperate to smooth things over with Fiz, Phill decides to build a bridge with a surprise proposal - but what will Fiz say?
Jennie was able to confirm one thing: "she’s a bit swept away by the romantic gesture of it."
"It would be nice for her to have a happy ending."
