THE BAFTA TV awards returned last night for another glam award ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall.

However, BAFTA viewers were left furious this evening as It’s A Sin was completely snubbed despite leading the nominations.

The hit Channel 4 series received seven nods – but failed to secure an award in what was the biggest shock of the evening.

Meanwhile, Gogglebox won its second TV Bafta for best constructed factual show.

Mo Gilligan won best comedy entertainment for his The Lateish Show on Channel 4 and said the prize "means so much" because Channel 4 took him on when his mental health was struggling in 2017.

This years TV award show was hosted by the one and only Richard Ayoade.

Among the Bafta TV award winners were: Uprising, Sophie Willan for Female Performance, Gogglebox and Big Zuu’s Big Eats.

  • Pop star looks unrecognisable as he showcases new look

A POP star looked unrecognisable as he showcased a new look at the TV BAFTAs.

The annual ceremony took place at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday afternoon, with the stars out in force in the sunshine.

The celebs brought plenty of glamour to proceedings, but some onlookers had to do a double take when they saw the hugely popular singer and actor hit the red carpet.

Years & Years star Olly Alexander usually sports a colourful head of hair alongside his statement fashion style, but for the BAFTAs he switched up his look completely.

Olly, 31, has shaved off his hair almost completely, except for four closely cropped strips on the top in a distinct style.

As well as his new haircut, Olly has also bleached his eyebrows, which totally transformed his look and made him hard to recognise.

While a third wrote: “Rose and Giovanni winning that award is quite possibly one of the best things I’ve seen in an award show. It really highlights how much we take things for granted, and that dance is still one of the most amazing, beautiful moments on Strictly ever! 👏🏻 #BAFTA #BAFTAS.”

  • Holby City gets snubbed at Baftas after brutal axing

CORONATION Street won best soap at the TV Baftas as Holby City was snubbed after its brutal axing.

The ITV soap was up against Emmerdale and BBC medical dramas Casualty and the now axed Holby in the Soap and Continuing Drama category.

The series aired its last episode aired on March 29 this year after 23 years on screen.

Viewers were gutted by its axing, and a win tonight would have given it a final hurrah.

Sadly it wasn't to be the case, as Corrie triumphed, with members of the cast and production taking to the stage at London's Royal Festival Hall.

Viewers watching at home took to Twitter to discuss the result.

One wrote: "i don’t care, holby city deserved that bafta look at everything they’ve achieved #BAFTAs."

Another added: "What they didn't win again?! Fixed every year".

A third shared: "congratulations corrie, so deserved."

LORRAINE Kelly took a swipe at Boris Johnson after he asked who she was in a clip that went viral.

The legendary presenter modestly said wasn’t offended by the snub - but pointed out they’ve met before.

Speaking at the TV Baftas, she told The Sun: “It was really funny, but why should he remember me?

“I have met him a couple of times though. I obviously made a huge impression…”

The Prime Minister left viewers baffled as he appeared not to know who Lorraine was during an interview with Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid on Tuesday.

As she brought the 30-minute long interview to a close, Susanna said: "Lorraine is waiting to take up all the issues you have brought up on this interview."

But the quizzical PM muttered under his breath: "Who is Lorraine?"

    The outraged GMB host then hit back: "Who is Lorraine? Lorraine is a legend!";

  • Steph McGovern forced to change BAFTA look last minute

Steph McGovern, 39, stunned in an elegant black gown as she took to the BAFTAs red carpet yesterday afternoon.

However, getting ready for the awards ceremony all didn't go to plan for the Steph's Packed Lunch star and she had to change her proposed makeup look.

Taking to her Instagram story, Steph shared a video of herself with a facemask on, while she zoomed into a large cold sore on her lip.

She captioned the video: "Yes the b****d is still here. Looks like he's coming to the BAFTAs with me."

Steph then shared how she has a cold sore, meaning she had to change makeup plans.

Posting a closeup of her lip, she captioned the picture: "Changed original makeup plans because of Colin the Cold Sore coming with us."

However, it's safe to say the TV presenter didn't disappoint with her outfit as she wore a stunning high-neck, sleeveless black gown with a large, satin princess-style skirt.
