Earlier today it was revealed that Martin will be returning to Corrie as the much-loved eco warrior in July this year.

Martin joined the ITV show in 1997.

His alter-ego, who was married to Toyah Battersby, stayed in Weatherfield until 2000.

He later made some brief returns in 2001 and 2003.

Speaking about his return, Martin said: "Having the opportunity to walk back onto the cobbles is fabulous, I’m so excited to be seeing a lot of old friends and picking up what Spider has been up to.

"I’ve always wanted to come back at some point and it just felt like this is the right time. I’m eternally grateful to Iain [Macleod] for the opportunity.”

"His return heralds an enthralling new story for Toyah, who will be embroiled in a mess of guilt and secrecy when Spider arrives. Will he be her saviour or the thing that ruins her life forever?”

After his stint on Corrie, Martin went on to star in shows such as Doctors, Holby City, M.I High, Demons and most recently, In the Long Run.
