The celebrities included singer Ellie Goulding, presenter Sophie Morgan and actors Mawaan Rizwan and Tracy-Ann Oberman.

The technical challenge required the celebs to make a jam roly-poly with custard from scratch.

And then they were judged blind by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

But Sophie admitted she "doesn’t know what a jam roly poly is."

She confessed that she will have to “use her imagination."

Similarly, Mawaan "guessed it would be a jam thing, rolled over."

Fans were shocked they had never heard of the pudding.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Are these serious, they don’t know what a jam roly poly is?"

Another wrote: "They don't know what a jam roly-poly is?!"

A third penned: "She doesn't know what jam roly-poly is? F*** right off.”

The traditional British pudding was first created in the early 19th century.

It is a flat-rolled suet pudding, which is then spread with jam and rolled up, similar to a Swiss roll, then steamed or baked.

Ellie came first place in the technical challenge receiving high praise from the judges.

Other tasks involved the celebs to make a marble cake and a biscuit portrait of their idol.

The Great British Bake Off is available to watch on All4.
