An emotional Meena broke down after hearing the sentencing, but viewers were distracted by the classic instrumental music playing.

Taking to Twitter, fans shared their confusion over the music choice.

One said: "The music sounds like an old ITV 3 cheesy detective show, Midsummer Murders."

Another wrote: "What on earth is this background music."

A third penned: "What’s with all the music it’s damn annoying."

Meena put up a fight refusing to go to a cell and shouted about there being a mistake.

She even yelled to her sister Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) to help her as she witnessed her sister being taken down to her prison cell.

Sitting alone in her cell alone with the terrifying sounds of prison surrounding her, Meena was screaming, begging for people not to ignore her.

The nurse was revealed to be a serial killer once Leanna found out she murdered her former best friend Nadine Butler.

Meena's sentencing could mark the end of a long storyline which began months after her first appearance in the Dales.

Could this be how Meena will exit the eponymous village?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
