Is Compulsion based on a book?

COMPULSION is the new drama airing over one week on Channel 5 in April 2022.

Is Compulsion based on a book?

Compulsion was written by Sarah Deane and directed by Noreen Kershaw.

The thriller consists of four episodes which will air over four consecutive nights beginning on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, on Channel 5 at 9pm.

It will draw to a close on Good Friday - April 15.

The new series was produced by LA productions with the filming taking place in Liverpool back in 2021.

Is Compulsion a true story?

The plot is not based on a true story and has been written for entertainment purposes only.

Sebastian Cardwell, Channel 5 Deputy Director of Programmes, ViacomCBS Networks UK shared: "I’m excited to be adding to our thriving drama slate with another commission for 2022!

"LA Productions have a wealth of experience creating cutting edge drama, and I’m looking forward to teaming up with them to bring this gripping story to Channel 5 viewers.”

What is Compulsion about?

Compulsion follows the life of a paramedic named Jenny who winds up developing a gambling addition after a fatal train crash to try to cope with her PTSD.

Her gambling addiction eventually lands her in hot water when she gets into heavy debt with some dangerous people.

A friend called Sasha offers to help Jenny out of the situation but, Sasha has an agenda of her own.

Speaking on the new Channel 5 show, Colin McKeown, Executive Producer, LA Productions explained: “We strive with all of our dramas to get the best cast, the best crew and the best script.

"With ‘Compulsion’ we believe we have achieved that.”

Anna Chancellor stars as Sasha and Hayley Mills plays loan shark Connie Bertram who holds Jenny's fate in her hands.

Leanne Best plays Jenny.
