Oti Mabuse’s new show Romeo & Duet to include gay couples – unlike ITV rival Love Island
OTI MABUSE’s new dating series Romeo & Duet will have gay and lesbian couples alongside straight pairings.
Some fans have clamoured for the same inclusivity on established programmes, such as Love Island.
Ex-Strictly pro Oti fronts the show, in which one singleton serenades a potential suitor who is hiding behind a Blind Date-style sliding door.
If they like what they hear, they can reveal themselves — then pair up to perform a duet in the hope it will spark some chemistry.
A TV insider said: “One day it won’t be remarkable that a dating show includes all sexualities.
“ITV has embraced that with The Cabins and Ready To Mingle, but it’s an exciting move for a primetime show on a mainstream channel.

“But all that matters in Romeo & Duet is their sultry singing voices.”
Oti said when she got the gig: "I’m so excited to be part of Romeo & Duet. It’s always been a dream of mine to host so this is a real pinch me moment, and it's a blessing for me to finally be able to share this news.
"I honestly can’t wait to get started! It’s about love with a little bit of a twist and showcase of talent.
"It’s fresh and fun, and I hope everyone’s going to love it as much as I do."
