Killing Eve set to get a TV spin-off with a surprising character taking the lead
FANS of Killing Eve cut up by the BBC thriller ending can rejoice – there’s a spin-off in the pipeline.
The show’s creators are looking at a prequel focusing on the early life of spy Carolyn Martens, played in the main series by Fiona Shaw.
Which means it’s unlikely we’ll see the new show feature the lead characters of Villanelle and Eve Polastri, played by Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh . . . but you never know.
A TV insider said: “In many ways Carolyn was a bit of curveball choice for a prequel, but in other ways she was an obvious choice.
“The creators could have gone for Villanelle or Eve, but Carolyn provides a different take on things.
"Bosses felt that Killing Eve had to come to an end but its spirit should live on in a new form, and this is the project they’re focusing their efforts on now.

“It’s in the early stages of development and the finished series is months, if not years, away. But at least fans have something to look forward to.”
So far the gossip has focused on a Killing Eve movie, in the same way that the end of Peaky Blinders on the BBC has now led to the creation of a spin-off film.
This week joint writer Laura Neal told the Radio Times: “I think it’s the end of Killing Eve as we know it, but I wouldn’t be able to say whether it’s the end of the Killing Eve world. I’d love to see something else.”
Well, now we know it’s more likely to return to the small screen . . .

Claire couldn't bare it
AS Lindsey Corkhill in Brookside, Claire Sweeney was a teenage tearaway – and it seems she was not so different in real life.
The actress has revealed she once flashed a whole class of schoolboys after skinny-dipping in the sea on holiday in Mallorca.
Claire told the Life’s A Beach podcast: “My friends decide to have a swim and it’s eight o’clock in the morning.
“I haven’t got a swimming costume so I go in naked, and with the girls I’m fine.
“But I come out on to the beach and there’s a school party and I had to walk out in front of all these schoolboys.
“It was so wrong. Isn’t it?”
Still, it sounds a lot more glam than Brookside.
Single and looking for love

It is based around the table of singletons who are lumped together at every wedding.
Yer out – now shoe!
THERE’S all sorts of funny business at comedy clubs – and I don’t just mean the gags.
Jason Manford has revealed how one man was thrown out for being on his phone – and that led to a tussle involving the fella’s shoes.
He told the Have A Word podcast how the man told security to “f**k off” when challenged and added: “So like four of them moved in, pincer movement. He’s out the door, gone, shoes left.
