I put on 5st after Love Island and starting a family – but I had to lose weight to be a better dad, says Jamie Jewitt

A SUMMER romance on Love Island turned out to be a match made in heaven for model Jamie Jewitt.

The 31-year-old defied the odds and found everlasting love on reality TV with his co-star Camilla Thurlow.

The couple are now married with a daughter called Nell - and another on the way.

But becoming a family man hasn't come without its challenges.

Jamie is now five stone heavier than when he first walked into the villa five years ago.

After growing "concerned" about his size, the former reality star was inspired to lose the weight to be a better parent.

"Honestly my life changed most when I became a parent as I stopped putting myself and my health first," admits Jamie.

"I've always exercised so I have to admit it was mainly diet that I began struggling with, being a parent for the first time quick and easy foods are what I got used to choosing.

"I also felt that after a crazy busy day I just wanted to treat myself and eat what I liked!

"This all ended up creating a habit of ignoring self-care and I slowly lost the discipline I once had when it came to food.

"Its a slippery slope once the bad habits set in and a difficult cycle to break when you have so much else going on that you need to think about i.e an increasingly energetic little bambino!"

Jamie weighed 12st8lbs when he arrived as a Love Island bombshell in 2017.

At his heaviest, the 6ft2 hunk ended up 17st1lb, but has now managed to shrink down to 14st5lbs.

Jamie insists he embraced his "dad bod" after moving away from his model physique.

But when he began to feel the health impact of being overweight, he started on Muscle Food's GOAL GETTERS Lean Machine plan to lose the bulge and tone up.

"I decided to do the MuscleFood Goal Getters plan because I’ve been a little concerned about my weight for a couple years now," said Jamie.

"I started to try and do something about it at the end of 2020 but life and fatherhood ultimately got in the way.

"The main issue for me was I felt unhealthy and I had many aches and pains. I have trouble with my knees anyway and with the extra weight I really felt pain from walking up and down stairs and getting up off the floor after playing with Nell.

"Weight loss for me will always be about health and happiness as I had no issue with my body image at a heavier weight it was more the fact that I felt unhealthy.

"I'm still heavier than when I came out of Love Island, but I feel much happier at this new weight.

"The simplicity of the plan, how easy it was to integrate into my life, and how delicious everything was made it easy to stick to. I loved the Beef Ragu Prepped Pot.

"I now have found that balance and I feel like the younger healthier me, and able to be a more active happy healthy parent!

"I feel younger, happier, healthier and more energetic. All things that will help me to be a better parent!"
