Gemma Collins’ mum breaks down in tears as star relives Dancing On Ice horror fall

Joan clasped her hand together and cried inside the Manchester Opera House as Gemma said: "She always gets upset when she sees me fall over on Dancing On Ice."

She added: "Mum's emotional today because she can't believe that I've got my very own show and I'm touring the country. It's OK. Let it out."

Joan replied: "I'm all right. I just didn't like seeing you fall over. Such a brave girl, you are."

It's the perfect warm-up for Gemma's new role as Mama Morton in Chicago when she treads the boards in May.

Earlier this year Gemma and her mum clashed in heartbreaking scenes in her self-harm documentary.

The 41-year-old former Towie star accused her mum of turning a blind eye to her suffering as a youngster.

She said "I obviously needed some sort of help or support at that time."

Joan told her: "Which you would have got if you just spoke about it, when you done it, we didn't want to bring attention to it."

Gemma replied: "Your and dad's approach was like: 'Let's never mention it.'"

Her mum said "life was busy", but Gemma fired back, "but what's more important, life being busy or your daughter cutting themselves?"

In the documentary the star explained that she self-harmed because she struggled with her meteoric rise to fame.

Gemma was working as a car sales rep when she first appeared in Towie in 2011 and it wasn’t long until she became one of its biggest stars.
