Rhona (portrayed by actress Zoe Henry) has a lot on her plate as she tries to help Marlon (Mark Charnock) recover from his stroke.

But while the latter remains in hospital, refusing visits from his own daughter April (Amelia Flanagan), Rhona progressively crumbles under the pressure.

Coming up, Rhona's birthday is near and April is determined to make the day special by successfully pulling off a surprise birthday party in the Woolpack.

Aware she had promised Marlon a visit, Rhona is torn until Chas suggests Cain to take her place to allow her to enjoy the party for April’s sake.

Soon, Rhona is eager to see Marlon and April begs to come with her.

Under pressure, Rhona lies to April but is more than determined to convince Marlon to let her visit.

She eventually gets what she wants the following day and April visits her father in hospital.

Rhona is impressed by April's maturity throughout the ordeal as the teenager was the first one in Smithy Cottage following her father's stroke.

In a devastating scene, she had to call for an ambulance herself in an attempt to save Marlon's life.

Rhona then took over and has been staying at Marlon's side ever since.

But by spreading herself too thin in a bid to keep everybody happy, while all set to get Marlon to come home soon, Rhona forgets her own wellbeing and is scolded by her mother Mary for doing too much.

Rhona's former husband Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) remains a source of constant support, however, as he notices she is struggling with both Marlon and her son Leo.

Emmerdale fans may remember that Marlon and Rhona welcomed a son named Leo in 2011 for whom Paddy has also been a father figure.

Paddy decides to visit Marlon while Rhona later explains her plans to get him home quickly.

Thankfully for her, Paddy has a plan of his own to raise Marlon's spirits.

Can Rhona count on Paddy's support?
