The BBC has just announced SAS: Rogue Heroes, and its teaser trailer is already here.

The brand new drama series sees stars from the likes of Sex Education and Game of Thrones transform into SAS soldiers from the second world war.

SAS: Rogue Heroes' teaser trailer was released on April 3, giving fans a taste of what's to come in the six-part series.

It will explore the story of the special forces unit as viewers are taken to Cairo, Egypt back in 1941.

The show centres around the young officer named David Stirling, who is played by Sex Education star Connor Swindells.

Its synopsis reads: "Convinced that traditional commando units don't work, he creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare.

"He fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest and brightest soldiers for a small undercover unit that will create mayhem behind enemy lines."

The synopsis continues: "More rebels than soldiers, Stirling's team are every bit as complicated, flawed and reckless as they are astonishingly brave and heroic."

Starring alongside Swindells will be Game of Thrones' Alfie Allen, Skins' Jack O'Connell, The Wire's Dominic West, Line of Duty's Jason Watkins, Dunkirk's Tom Gynn-Carney and Kingsman actress Sofia Boutella.

Creator Steven Knight, who also wrote the entire series, said: "It has been a privilege to work on a project which tells the story of a renegade band of soldiers who used wit and imagination as much as firepower to halt the march of Fascism across North Africa during the darkest days of World War Two.

"This is a war story like no other, told in a way that is at once inspired by the facts and true to the spirit of this legendary brigade of misfits and adventurers."

SAS: Rogue Heroes will air later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
