Peaky Blinders fans all have the same complaint about final minutes of BBC finale

PEAKY Blinders fans were left fuming at the end of the BBC gangster drama and it was not because of the plot.

Viewers who tuned in to the final ever episode of the Birmingham-based series were disappointed not to hear the original version of its iconic theme song.

Across the six seasons, the song Red Right Hand echoed at the beginning of every Peaky Blinders episode.

But it was a little bit different in the sixth series, with the theme song not heard at the beginning of the episode, but rather as a range of covers that would pop up at different points in the episode.

Originally penned and performed by Australian rockers Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Red Right Hand became a staple of the series as much as the crime, violence and paperboy caps.

The song is about a man who is part demon part God who stalks the land scaring and impressing wherever he goes, but no one knows who the idea is based on - although the description sort of fits with Peaky leader Tommy Shelby.

The late Helen McCrory, who played the Shelbys' Aunt Polly, was a guest on The One Show when she revealed that some very famous singers had been asked to record a version of the song for the fourth series.

She said: "Every year, [the producers] look out for different singers, and who's going to do the cover music.

"One of the Red Right Hand covers will be from the duet of Iggy Pop and Jarvis Cocker."

The duo's cover featured in episode five of season four, with Laura Marling providing the voice for a version of the same song in episode six.

Series two featured a cover from the Arctic Monkeys.

In series three, PJ Harvey was heard singing the Bad Seeds' track and the show's penultimate episode featured a cover by Patti Smith recorded especially for the show.

Show creator Steven Knight explained the change to the song symbolised a change in Tommy who seemed to be on a path to redemption, but when it was heard briefly in episode two, it was a sign Tommy was reverting back to his old ways.

But viewers watching at home were disappointed they didn't get to hear the original version one last time.

"WHERE THE F**K IS RED RIGHT HAND FOR THIS ICONIC MOMENT," fumed one fan on Twitter.

Another added: "#PeakyBlinders had a great ending, weak season, brilliant quotes. Only thing missing was the The Red Right Hand."

And a third wrote: "It really should have ended it with the theme tune... That would have been the perfect ending."
