No one knew me before Dancing on Ice, but now people think I’m the dark horse to win, says Paul Gascoigne’s son Regan

PAUL Gascoigne's son Regan is within touching distance of winning Dancing on Ice as this year's dark horse.

But before signing up, the football legend's son wasn't well known and was reportedly paid the least out of this series' stars.

He will battle it out with former Strictly star Brendan Cole and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt on Sunday night in hopes of following in Sonny Jay's footsteps and taking home the trophy.

Regan said: ";When I started I was genuinely shocked when I got asked to do Dancing on Ice.

"I'm not even known and they always get really big people to do the show.

"Now I'm here sat between Brendan and Kimberly - I'm like 'what the hell, how am I here?'"

But Regan insists he doesn't see himself as the dark competition.

"I don't think of it in that way at all," he said.

"I'm just loving it and really enjoying it. I'm embracing every moment of it, but I don't think I'm the dark horse."

He's looking forward to his mum and sister watching him from the crowd on Sunday - and hopes to make them proud.

"I've got family and friends who haven't even seen me perform," he added.

"To hear their feedback and for them to see how much I love it is really special. That means more to me than anything."
