The three-hour long show was by Paddy McGuinness, Sir Lenny Henry, David Tennant and Alesha Dixon.

As usual, there were a number of famous faces who appeared on the programme, including Tom Holland, Paul Rudd, Jack Whitehall and many more.

There were a number of sketches too.

French and Saunders took part in The Repair Shop, there was a Countryfile spoof, and David Walliams and Matt Lucas starred in Rock Profile.

However, fans weren't impressed with them - and some went as far to say they weren't funny.

One wrote on Twitter: "Comic relief is absolutely dying on a***. Its like watching a Butlins redcoat show."

A second questioned: "Where's the comic gone in comic relief....... ?"

A third chimed in: "Didn't comic relief used to be funny?!"

"I need some relief from this comic," a fourth added.

Another decided to change channels as they tweeted: "Sorry #ComicRelief. I've switched off."

Elsewhere Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuinness were stunned into silence after Comic Relief was hit by a technical blunder - just 20 minutes into the show.

The hosts welcomed the Mind Mangler - played by Henry Lewis - to the stage shortly after Fantastic Beasts stars Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law surprised some school kids.

However, during Mind Mangler’s very brief appearance, viewers could still hear Eddie and Jude dubbed over the top.

The segment was quickly cut short, with Alesha saying: "Give it up for the Mind Mangler", before correcting herself and noting that there had been a "technical fault".

Viewers couldn’t help but note the very apt timing of things going wrong and questioned whether it was planned all along.

Taking to Twitter, one person penned: "When Magic Goes Wrong... goes wrong. How awkward."

Echoing their comments, someone else said: "Magic Goes Wrong going wrong is literally the most 2022 thing ever."

Earlier on in the show, Paddy kicked off proceedings and stunned his co-hosts with a rather rude joke.

As hundreds of red noses showered the audience, Lenny yelled: "It’s a nose shower", but Paddy soon left his counterparts red-faced.

The Top Gear host quipped: “Oh, no. No, sorry, sorry, excuse me. Excuse me. Mate, it’s supposed to go on your nose."

Then, in a jaw-dropping moment, Paddy shook his head before adding: “Sorry, that was my cousin.”

Almost immediately, Paddy’s fellow hosts looked embarrassed as he made what seemed to be an X-rated joke.
