New Amsterdam season 5: When will it air?

NEW Amsterdam is a medical drama series that first premiered back in September 2018.

While the show is still in its fourth season, it has been announced that the fifth season will be the show's last and now fans want to know when they can be expecting it.

New Amsterdam season 5: When will it air?

Season 5 of New Amsterdam will consist of 13 episodes, making it the show's shortest season.

However, at this time it remains unclear when it is scheduled to premiere but it will reportedly be sometime in 2023.

For now, fans can prepare by watching new episodes of Season 4 on Tuesdays at 10pm EST on NBC.

The Season 4 finale is scheduled to air on May 24, 2022, following a small hiatus for Renée Zellwegger’s true-crime limited series The Thing About Pam.

Why is New Amsterdam ending?

At this time it is unknown why the show is coming to an end but many believe it might be due to its lower ratings.

The show had previously been renewed for an additional three seasons in January 2020, during the show's second season.

reports that in recent years the show has slipped in ratings, compared to other popular NBC shows, and now averages "1.13 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers in Live+7 and multi-platform viewing this season despite air-pattern challenges."

Universal TV President Erin Underhill added, “When I first read the pilot script for New Amsterdam, I knew we had a winner. We cheered Max’s disruption of the status quo and applauded when he asked his patients the simple yet profound question, ‘How can I help?’
