She said: "Our next package is for Outstanding British Film. From drama to horror, to fantasy... Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah had it all."

She also referenced Prince Andrew's claim he had visited a Woking branch of Pizza Express.

"It was called Pizza Express. But don't worry I'm not going to do it, I'm saving my voice for the sequel to Cats."

More from the Baftas

Rebel also addressed her dramatic weight loss, with a picture of her during her last Bafta appearance shown on the big screen.

It came as...

The star, who has shed more than five stone in recent months, said: "I might look a little different from the last time you guys saw me here.

"That was two years ago and since then I have done quite a transformation. I hope JK Rowling still approves.

"Everybody is asking me: 'Why did you lose weight?' and I was like: 'Really it was to get the attention of Robert Pattinson.'

"Because you know what they say, once you go Bat you don’t go back."

She added: "Just joking. I did not lose weight for just a guy, I did it to get more acting roles.

"I am so excited I can play the non-funny love interest in an Adam Sandler movie."

But while some jokes hit the mark, others complained that her hosting was "cringeworthy".

Piers Morgan tweeted: "I’m cringing so violently watching Rebel Wilson attempt to host the #BAFTAs that I fear my eye sockets may explode."

The actress opened the show last night saying: "You guys might be like, why is Rebel Wilson hosting the Baftas, isn’t she Australian?

"Yes, I come from the bush. If you think about it, don’t we all?"

She also told the audience of film industry greats that she would be taking over as the first female James Bond.

Rebel joked that her appearance would usher in a the new logo - drawing a version with the '00' in 007 turned into a pair of breasts.

In another joke Rebel said: "When you become the host they give you a list of everyone who s***ged their way to the nomination. Not who you'd expect. Lots of visual effects guys."
