Viewers sent their best wishes with one writing: "Anyone else crying along with all the team?"

Others worried for the presenters, calling footage of them hosting in tears "absolutely heartbreaking" and saying they wished they could comfort them.

One wrote: "Can someone PLEASE give Holly a hug."

Today Holly, 41, began sobbing at the sight of children in Ukraine, with Phillip Schofield cutting to a break as tears ran down her face.

She later told viewers: "It's very hard not to feel anxious when you look at what is going on in the world, when you read the papers or switch on the TV."

Holly and Phillip also ended up being overcome with emotion on Monday's show as a young girl sung Let It Go in a Kyiv bunker amid the Russian invasion.

Referring to the suffering of Ukrainian children Holly said: "It's horrible, it's horrible."

One fans tweeted: "I absolutely can understand Holly crying. Remember we could be in a difficult situation one day, who knows which way this war will go Putin has nothing to loose now."

And on Friday Alison wound up breaking down and having to be consoled by her co-stars after talking about obesity.

The former Big Brother contestant, 47, began crying during a phone-in when a caller named Jean spoke about her 17-year-old daughter's problems with food.

Alison was so moved by the call that she broke down crying at the end, sobbing: "It's so hard, people don't realise. When you're big, people think you're lazy."

Sun legend Deidre Sanders then got out of her seat and came over to give the host a hug saying: "Oh Alison."

One fan tweeted: "Alison showing her vulnerability and her struggles on tv is why I love her so much. She’s so relatable for so many people! I just wanted to cuddle her."

Another wrote: "Alison is such an awesome person, it was heartbreaking seeing her so upset. Lots of love and light Alison, keep smiling beautiful lady."
