The Ipcress File viewers all make the same complaint about first episode of ITV spy thriller remake
THE Icpress File has finally launched on ITV - but viewers aren't happy about one fine detail.
Charming smuggler-turned-spy Harry Palmer - portrayed by Peaky Blinders' Joe Cole - is getting a new lease of life in the ITV adaptation of The Ipcress File.
Set in Berlin in 1963, we follow Harry - a former British Army sergeant - whose dodgy dealings as a fixer and smuggler come to an abrupt end, landing him in prison.
But when British secret services come knocking, it seems that Harry's knowledge of Berlin's underworld could come in handy after all - and maybe even keep him out of prison.
It is the first major screen adaptation since the iconic film starring Michael Caine in the role of Harry, however, some are peeved about the filming of it.
As the first episode aired this evening, those watching at home were bugged about the use of "annoying" camera angles, with some even turning off.
Alongside an emoji of a confused face, one person penned: "The jaunty camera angles in Ipcress File are boring after only ten minutes."
Echoing their comments, someone else questioned: "Is the entire series filmed on angles like this? That's gonna be annoying!"
While a third added: "There’s a lot of camera angle experts watching this. Presumably taking a day off from being experts in everything else."
Speaking at a press event attended, Cole said he tried to make his character more palatable to a modern-day audience.
He explained: "It was this constant battle of trying to make him not sound like a d**k.
"To make him kind of toe the line between not being facetious, not sarcastic. Likeable, but also pushing those buttons, but just enough that you don't immediately turn off."
The Ipcress File will return at 9pm on ITV next Sunday, March 13.
