KATE Garraway will be shown how Covid-19 ravaged her husband Derek Draper's body in her new medical TV show.
The star, 54, is hosting BBC2's Your Body Uncovered and the series will feature a segment about how the deadly virus can affect the lungs.
Virtual reality technology will be used to give an almost real-life look inside the body.
Kate has said the fear she had following Derek's diagnosis in March 2020 was made worse because she did not know what was going on in his.
Speaking on Tuesday night's episode of her show, Kate said: "Having a serious health condition is terrifying and having someone you love with a serious health condition can be just as daunting.
"When my husband Derek was diagnosed with Covid-19 it turned our lives upside down.
"And that fear was made even harder to bear because I didn't understand what was going on inside his body."
Gosh, if we had understood that from the start where would we be now?

During an earlier appearance on The One Show, Kate confirmed that a Covid patients' lungs will be looked at during the series of her new show.
"I just thought, 'That is amazing'," she said. "It’s fascinating to see how Covid effects the lungs, then how it spreads into the body.
"Gosh, if we had understood that from the start where would we be now?"
She added: "When Derek got sick, it was not just the fear of him dying which was big and massive, it was the fear of, ‘What is it?’
"You’re very fearful and that fear becomes a big chunk of the problem."
CLINICAL TRIAL
Kate lifted the lid of her sick husband's progress last week during her ITV documentary Caring For Derek.
During the programme, she revealed that Derek had flown 11,000 miles to Mexico to take part in a long Covid clinical trial.
The former TV PR man can only sit in his wheelchair for 20 minutes but there are plans for him to return to Central America.
Kate said: “It took weeks and weeks of planning, and when I told Derek about this place he was excited. He is just so desperate to get better - he will do anything he can to make that happen.
“I think actually there’s a huge amount of hope for him to improve. I think the treatment could be positive. I want to be slightly careful about saying too much, because I’m aware everybody will go, ‘What is the trial?’
"And I don’t want to start something, offering up false hope to others who might be in a similar position.

“But I’m just so desperate to be able to give a happy ending — for Derek mainly, but also for everybody who asks me every day how he’s getting on.

“I’m desperate to be able to tell them he’s getting better . . . but of course he’s not out of the woods yet. It’s hard to say how the treatment went so far, as it’s very early in the treatment programme and he will need much more.
“We are also still waiting for final analysis of all the scans, but I like there were a lot of positives.”
