ESCAPE to the Chateau’s Dick Strawbridge reveals why his plush French mansion will NEVER feel like home.
The 62-year-old is best known for starring in the Channel 4 show since it premiered in 2016.
The programme follows the lives of Dick and his family, who live in a lavish Château in Martigné-sur-Mayenne.
Despite being there for several years, the TV star will always prefer living in the UK.
Dick was born in Burma, south east Asia, but later moved to County Antrim in Northern Ireland.
He told : “Living in the chateau is our dream.
“But, when all is said and done, Northern Ireland will always be home.”
The former engineer said that tries to visit the UK whenever he can.
Dick added: “We love coming over to see the family.
“Admittedly with Covid things haven’t been easy.
“But at every opportunity, we’ve always been on the first ferry back.”
Dick married Angel in 2015.
The 42-year-old recently revealed why she ended up “sobbing in the bath” the night before tying the knot.
Angel revealed the pressure of renovating the huge property left her in tears, when she should have been relaxing before their big day.
The mum-of-two told : “We were engulfed with exhaustion.
“It was the first time I’d had a bath and I had a little sob.
“We’d been working 18, 20 or 22 hours a day and were flying high on adrenaline and couldn’t lose our focus. Most of the house wasn’t done.”
The happy couple met 12 years ago at a party.
They are mum and dad to Arthur, nine, and Dorothy, eight.
