Home and Away’s real life couple Debra Lawrence and Dennis Coard unrecognisable 25 yrs after playing Pippa and Michael

THEY met and fell in love on the set of Home and Away 25 years ago, and Debra Lawrence and Dennis Coard have just celebrated 30 years of marriage.

Debra played Pippa on the soap and Dennis joined as Michael – her onscreen husband, but it wasn’t long until he was her partner off screen too.

Sharing a picture of them celebrating their milestone anniversary Debra, 65, gushed: ";30 years ago today (on February 29th) this beautiful man and I were married in Avalon.”

The snap, taking in 2020, shows the pair looking a far cry from their soap star characters.

She continued: "This is us grabbing a delicious celebratory dinner at @theeuropeanmelbourne between Part One and Part Two of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in 2020 - our official (7th 😉) anniversary date. My gratitude knows no bounds.

"Dennis is the kindest, most generous person I know... a truly wonderful father... add hardworking, supportive, hilariously funny and extremely attractive and you start to see why we've managed to travel through the last 3 decades together."

She concluded: "Happy Anniversary dearest Dennis. Much love and heartfelt thanks for agreeing to be the father of our two beautiful children 😊❤️❤️❤️❤️@coardelette @will_coard."

Debra appeared on Home and Away from 1990 to 1998 and has returned for a few guest stints after.

She married Dennis in 1992 and went on to have two children with him.

The actress - who is currently in the Australian stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, previously spoke about how the show changed their lives after meeting during a screen test.

She explained to Woman’s Day: "Home And Away gave me my life.

"If I didn't have a steady job, I don't think I would have had children. I met Dennis, we have two great children, and he's a brilliant father."

"I met Dennis at exactly the time my ovaries were yelling, 'Hello!'

"I must have smelled his testosterone. I flirted with him and there was chemistry, then I spent the next six weeks being rude to him. I guess I was testing him."
