Lorraine Kelly compares Russia’s Vladimir Putin to melted candle days after ‘downplaying Ukrainian crisis’

VIEWERS have praised Lorraine Kelly's savage takedown of Vladimir Putin on The Last Leg - comparing his face to a melted candle.

The presenter, 62, appeared on last night's episode of the late-night television talk show and couldn't resist making some comments about the Russian president's appearance.

It comes as Russia launched a "full-scale invasion of Ukraine", with fighting now going on in almost every part of the country.

Lorraine savagely said: "What is going on with this odd, strange, bizarre person that is Putin?

"You can't tell anything about him because he's had so much work done, allegedly, that his face is so weird.

"It looks like a candle has melted and then hardened."

She continued: "He's tiny, and he wears high heels."

Viewers of the show flocked to social media to praise Lorraine's comments.

Another wrote: "Lorraine Kelly ripping into Putin on The Last Leg has really tickled me, Putin wears high heels, he's only 5 foot 7."

A third person commented: "Lorraine just said that Putin's face is like a candle melted and re-hardened and she's right."

It comes after the sofa queen was criticised for downplaying the crisis in Ukraine after cutting away from coverage in the war torn country for a showbiz interview with rocker Avril Lavigne.

The presenter shocked viewers when she suddenly switched from addressing the conflict and said "life goes on" before introducing the Sk8er Boi singer, 37.

At least 198 Ukrainians, including three children, have been now been killed and 1,115 people wounded so far since Russia invaded.
