Wearing a patterned jacket, a black shirt and a silver tie, Brendan looked thrilled to be surrounded by famous faces for the special night.

Co-star Jennifer, who married Brendan in 2005, but plays his daughter Cathy Brown on the show - looked chic with in a fuchsia blouse and a black suit co-ord.

She completed her look with a pair of sparkly heeled boots, while Brendan also opted for some glitzy footwear.

The Dublin couple mingled with star Tyler, and fellow cast members, Brandon Black, Isha Blaaker and Gabrielle Dennis at the screening, which was filmed in Atlanta.

The pair looked relaxed as they smiled for photos and took time to speak to the crowd.

In one photo, actor and producer Tyler lifted Brendan up from his jacket collar a hilarious slapstick moment.

Brendan's appearance comes after he came under fire for a joke he made about Tyler Perry's "colour".

Appearing on The One Show he was asked whether the US star could ever appear on the BBC sitcom.

Brendan replied, gesturing to his own face: "So far we haven’t had anyone of his colour in there so I don't know if we could have him in.

"But you know what, I'd love that, but I think more importantly I'd love to do another movie with him."

Hollywood actor and director Tyler, 52, laughed at the comment, repeating: "Nobody my colour" as Brendan pointed to his face again.

The US star added: "Time to change the world. Diversity rules, here we go."

One shocked viewer tweeted: "Can't believe what Brendan O'Carroll has just said on the One Show."

Another asked: "Did Brendan O’Carroll just say Tyler a Perry couldn’t be in Mrs Brown’s Boys because he’s black on The One Show!?"

A third tweeted: "Brendan O'Carroll's attempt at being funny towards @tylerperry on BBC One Show tonight was quite embarrassing, I'm sure no malice was meant but that comment was wrong on so many levels."

Brendan has a cameo as his character Agnes Brown in Tyler’s new film, where he also plays an elderly character, called Madea and they were appearing side by side via video link to promote it.

The One Show host Lauren Laverne, presenting the show alongside Harry Judd tonight, didn't make reference to the remark.

She told the pair: "A big thank you to both of you. Tyler and Brendan, thank you for joining us."

Brendan created and stars in Mrs Brown's Boys, which he appears in with members of his real-life extended family.

The sitcom, which started life as a stage show, has aired on the BBC since 2011.

The show is returning to the BBC as a series for the first time in almost a decade.

The last run of the hit comedy, based around the family of foul-mouthed Irish “Mammy” Agnes, aired in 2013.

But a cast source confirmed they were booked to film new episodes in April, saying: “Everyone is very excited.

"It’s lovely to be working on another series.

“The cast can’t wait to see Brendan’s scripts.”
