However, the hosts were just as excited about being in their new studio in Manchester, after the show moved up North from its first home in London.

After the opening credits, viewers saw an aerial shot of a glass building in Manchester as Gethin said: "Hello and welcome to Morning Live, we've moved to our brand new home, you might just be able to see the studio from the top of the building there."

As the cameras returned to the new studio, Gethin sat on a green sofa while Kym sat on a pink arm chair as he joked to viewers: "We did think about popping out onto the balcony but Kym didn't fancy it."

Kym laughed and said: "You did, I didn't! There was no way I was going out there in this weather."

Viewers were also intrigued by the new studio, with one writing: "@BBCMorningLive @GethincJones @msm4rsh Absolutely loving the new studio and your new home and the new look already. #MorningLive."

Another added: "Soo loving the new studio even better it’s from my home town. My son works around the corner from your studio #morninglive welcome back guys."

A third tweeted: "Welcome back #morninglive and from a brand new home in Manchester!!"

Other viewers were glad to see Kym, 45, back on the show after she was forced to pull out of her return earlier this month due to a hernia operation.

Kym was replaced by Strictly professional Oti Mabuse but spoke to Gethin via video link from her home.

She said at the time: "I am really surprised, there was more to it than we originally thought.

"I am someone who likes to get up and about and do things for myself.

"It's really difficult having to sit and do nothing, it's horrendous."
