Trigger Point fan theory points to surprising suspect behind bombings
TRIGGER Point viewers have come up with the person they think is the main suspect behind all of the bombings.
The fourth episode of the new ITV drama saw Vicky McClure's Lana Washington, deal with the aftermath of her brother Billy's tragic death and get welcomed back on to the explosives team.
Lana was forced to take personal leave after she launched at John Hudson (Kris Hitchen), whom she accused of being behind the series of bombings around London.
Lana was forced to take personal leave after she launched at John Hudson (Kris Hitchen), whom she accused of being behind the series of bombings around London.
After some soul searching and time away, Lana convinces DSU Marianne Hamilton (Nadine Marshall) to let her back onto the bomb squad.
Hamilton tells Lana they have not been able to find any evidence that John was involved and the explosives expert agrees that she may have been wrong.
But she was soon proven right when it turned out John was behind the bombings all along.
When he and Lana head in to diffuse a bomb, everyone thinks the coast is clear after a police sniper shoots and kills the man they thought was responsible.
But as John heads out from where they found the bomb, leaving Lana alone in the building, he is seen getting his phone out to detonate the bomb.
Lana manages to run to safety with the entire team gutted one of their own was behind it.
But even though he's been nabbed, the team comes to find yet another device, which means John was not working alone.
Along with Vicky's analysis that the bombers were probably military trained and the bombings were an 'inside job', fans have turned to her lover Karl Maguire (Warren Brown) as a prime suspect.
After Billy's death, Lana ran into the arms of Karl despite having a boyfriend.
In Sunday's episode, Lana meets Karl for a drink by an East London canal and they're chatting quite seriously about the series of bombings that have happened in the city, including the one that killed Billy.
Karl told her: "I know you're used to doing all the tough things in life by yourself, but I can help you just need to let me in.
"I feel for the first time in my life, I've met someone who help me make sense of my life, and I want to do the same for you."
Fans noticed how "Karl always seems to appear after an event" to debrief with Lana to get specific details on the investigation.
"Are we agreed Karl is a bad ‘un?" one fan wrote on Twitter.
Another added: "Surely there must be more than one bomber in on this to set up an explosion on a block of houses! Could John be working for someone?! Could Karl be the ringleader of a group and was helping out with the gas hole covers on his motorbike along the way?."
And a third commented: "It’s so obvious Karl is a baddy. Just stringing it out now."
The series focuses on the work of a bomb disposal squad and counter terrorism police confronting an imminent terrorist threat in the City of London.
The squad risks their lives on a daily basis dealing with threats in the capital.
