Inside Coronation Street’s Alexandra Mardell’s leaving do as soap stars look world’s away from their characters
CORONATION Street star Alexandra Mardell has thrown a huge bash after making the big decision to leave the soap.
Alexandra, 28, who plays barmaid Emma Brooker, will remain on screen until April but has already filmed her final scenes.
Alexandra shared some candid snaps from the glitzy party on to her Instagram profile, much to the delight of her 123,000 followers.
She captioned the pics: "Face ache from smiling and hardly any photos are a sign of a fab night! Can we do it again?
"Huge hugs to everyone who came to say ta-ra for now! Had the best night with you all! Big big love."
Alexandra was joined at her farewell bash by actor boyfriend Joe Parker, and a host of Coronation Street co-stars including Simon Gregson, Millie Gibson, Colson Smith, and Georgia Taylor.
The cast looked very different as they glammed up - a far cry from their onscreen characters.
The actress also revealed that she got to keep a beloved prop from the Coronation Street set - one of her character's motivational mugs.
Alexandra shared an image of a 'boss babe' mug, along with a handwritten note from the Coronation Street art department team.

Corrie bosses have confirmed the door will be left open for Alexandra to return to the role of Emma.
Speaking about her decision to leave after four years on the cobbles, she said: “Playing Emma, on the most iconic street there is, has been the best experience of my life.
"Four years have gone so fast.
“Compared to other cast members I still feel like a newbie, which makes my decision to leave all the more difficult.
"But I feel it’s the right time for me.
“I can’t thank everyone at Coronation Street enough for welcoming me and trusting me to tell so many wonderful and heartfelt stories.
"And for the friendships.”
