The Wall: Edinburgh couple devastated after £50k dream shattered in cruel ending

A SCOTS couple who dreamed of buying a motorhome to take their autistic son on holiday had their near-£50,000 jackpot brutally wiped out on The Wall.

Financial planner Brian and pensions administrator Jenna, from , came tantalisingly close to realising their long-held ambition after building up an impressive £48,950.

But it was cruelly snatched away at the last second on the popular BBC One show, hosted by Danny Dyer.

The married couple, parents of Hadley, eight, and six-year-old, Blake, were left close to tears after the life-changing sum was reduced to £0 as the red quiz-show balls fell against them.

The audience, who had been clapping and cheering in support, fell silent as the jackpot was wiped out.

Danny Dyer said: “That’s the thing about this game. It can be so kind but one ball takes it all away.

“They leave here with no money but Hadley and Blake should be very proud of their parents.”

Social media users were quick to sympathise, with one writing: “Bloody hell, that poor couple.”

Another wrote: “Can we chip in to get them a motorhome? Really wanted them to win big.”

A third tweeted: “First time watching #TheWall what a horrible programme I’m traumatised.”

Another said: “Come on motor home companies, you know what you have to do!”

One joker posted a pic of a mouldy old caravan, adding: “It ain’t looking good #thewall.”
