Speaking on Life Stories about the distressing experience, Charlotte told Kate Garraway: “That was uniquely painful, I love pregnancy , I love birth.

"She was about 17 weeks and I went through that birth."

Discussing the impact it had on her family, she said: "It was so formative for us as a family. We just held onto each other so tightly.

"There was a beauty because I gave birth.  That pain and that suffering... to witness the bookends of life and death in one moment is mindblowing.”

Charlotte revealed she was pregnant on stage at Birmingham Pride, but just three weeks later she announced her sad news.

At the time Charlotte told her followers: "Charlotte and Jonny are very sad to announce that they lost their baby. Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family. We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace."

The singer went on to have a daughter called Frida with Jonathan in March 2021 after their heartbreak.

She is also mum to Ruby, 14, and Dexter, 13, from her relationship with rugby star Gavin Henson.

Elsewhere in the candid interview with Kate, Charlotte opens up about the heartrending decision she made to cut ties with her mum, Maria.

She reveals she left home aged just 16 because the star felt like she was being 'stifled.'

"As far as I was concerned, I needed to be free.

"I had to be a specific way for a long time and all of the normal ways in which we grow…were stifled and such."

She also adds: "I just had to cut the ties. I was at an age where I thought I knew everything. I knew better and I knew what I was doing. They were just trying to protect me but I just saw that as holding me too tight.

"It’s only with hindsight that I knew just what it meant to my mum. It felt like they had completely lost me and just this whole life that we had built together for the last few years.”
