Inventing Anna viewers open-mouthed as they figure out where they recognise Vivian from
INVENTING Anna viewers were in shock when they figured where they recognised one of the main characters from.
Fans of the Netflix show had been scratching their heads over the actress who plays Vivian Kent, the journalist who uncovers Anna Delvey's scams.
In Netflix's Inventing Anna, a journalist investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-infamous German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene – and stole their money as well.
Anna and the reporter form a dark, funny love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and Vivian fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey?
The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler.
Jessica inspired the character of Vivian, who is played by Hollywood star Anna Chlumsky.
And if she looks familiar to you, you probably remember her from the 1991 film, My Girl - which she starred in as Vada, opposite Macaulay Culkin.
After appearing in the hit film's 1994 sequel, Chlumsky, now 41, went on to star in Blood Car, In the Loop, and Veep.
Once they realised where they knew Anna from, Inventing Anna fans gushed over her.
"Aww the girl from My Girl hasn't changed a damn bit," wrote one fan on Twitter.
Another added: "My favourite from My Girl is in Inventing Anna!? Yes!"
And a third commented: "OMG I didn't know Anna Chlumsky was in this? I loved her in My Girl when I was growing up. Ugh she is fantastic."
Inventing Anna is in fact a true story and based on real life events surrounding Anna Delvey.
She pretended to be a German heiress in order to swindle money out of Manhattan's elite.
Anna was eventually jailed for her crimes.
While working on Veep, Chlumsky received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Other big stars in the Netflix hit include Ozark's Julia Garner as the titular character, Jennifer Esposito and Orange Is The New Black's Laverne Cox.
