Bel-Air viewers all have the same complaint about Fresh Prince spin-off series
FRESH Prince fans have been left divided after the long-awaited drama Bel-Air finally dropped - and some aren’t happy about one fine detail.
The classic comedy told the story of Will Smith’s teenager who moved to Bel-Air with his aunt and uncle - but the reboot is nothing like its predecessor.
In the drama, the tale explores the character’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to a wealthier life in California.
The new show sees Jabari Banks step into Smith’s breakthrough role - and it looks like a very different take on the story.
During the series, it also hints at Will’s dark past, which sees him involved in a gunfight over a basketball game in Philadelphia.
While the original was known as one of the most-loved sitcoms of the '90s, the new series is an altogether more dramatic take on the story.
Taking to Twitter, hundreds of people wasted no time in reacting to the new series - and it’s fair to say that it’s divided opinion.
Alongside an emoji of an angry face, one person vented: “Why did they remake the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Just feels so forced. Nothing will ever beat the original.”
Echoing their comments, someone else said: “I’ve just finished watching all three episodes of Bel-Air and I can safely say that it’s not as good as the original. Why was there a need for a reboot?”
While a third commented: “Why did they feel the need to reboot The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and make it more serious?”
Bel-Air is available to stream on Peacock with a NOW subscription.
